National Kidney Foundation

Recipients of Phi Sigma Sigma philanthropy have been many and varied over the years and include the medical center at the University of California at Los Angeles, Temple University's medical center, Johns Hopkins Hospital, the University of Washington's Medical School, the Albert Einstein School of Medicine in New York (where the grant established the Phi Sigma Sigma Cardiology Library), the United Negro College Fund, Rheumatic Heart Fund and a bookshelf at Brandeis University.

The Foundation's Board of Trustees, upon recommendation of the National Convention body in 1971, adopted the National Kidney Foundation to be the prime recipient of support.

After the adoption of the National Kidney Foundation as Phi Sigma Sigma's National Philanthropy, most Phi Sigma Sigma chapters actively participate in activities for local NKF affiliates. In recent years, Phi Sigma Sigma has worked with the NKF Board to specifically allocate funds it has donated. It has supported summer kidney camps for children with special needs related to kidney disease and research grants to help the medical community find a cure for kidney related disease. To date, Phi Sigma Sigma has contributed over $250,000 to NKF.
